Warcraft III – Other Maps

Risk Revolution v3.1

Risk RevolutionRisk Revolution is a popular Risk game. It can be played by anywhere from 2-12 players. There are 3 modes that can be played, Free-For-All, 2-player teams, or Alliance. Free-For-All is the most popular.

In Risk Revolution, unlike the board game, you do not roll dice, and you do not have to take turns attacking. The map is split up into countries, and there are bases in each country. If you control all the bases in a country, your income increases, and you receive free units. Larger countries will net you more income (and more free units), but are more difficult to hold.

The game begins with each base being randomly assigned to a different player. Each player is given a small amount of gold with which to build units for the first turn. Typically in the first turn, players try to see where they have a strong presence (for example 2 or more bases beside each other), and then begin to expand from there. As players expand and conquer entire countries, their income goes up. However, other players are usually watchful and will ally with each other to team up against players who are becoming too strong.

In Risk Revolution, you are not limited by a turn based system. The only effect of having turns in this game is that you receive income once every 60 seconds, at the beginning of each turn. You are free to build and move units whenever you want. When fighting, you can micro-manage your units as well if. It’s all done in Real-Time.

Playing Risk Revolution is usually fun. It is based on the board game in certain aspects, and in other aspects it’s completely different in design. A great game with even a few players, it gets better and better the more players are added.

Footmen Frenzy

Footmen FrenzyNOTE: This map will ONLY WORK on older versions of Warcraft III ROC and TFT (must be older than v1.24). It will NOT WORK on the latest version. I am currently looking for a copy of Footmen Frenzy that’s been modified to work with the latest version.

This is a game for 2-12 players. There are up to 4 teams of 1-3 players. Spawns come out of your base which you can control to help you fight the other teams. The map is very small and the game usually doesn’t take a whole lot of time. You get to pick a hero at the beginning which sometimes will become unstoppable near the end. You can upgrade your base to get stronger unit spawns, upgrade towers, or simply buy items for your hero to make him even stronger. You lose when your base dies, and you win when all the other teams bases have been killed.

Pretty simple, pretty popular, pretty fun.

Battle Ships

Battle ShipsBattle Ships Final 3.0 by Sked

Once upon a time there were two Alliances fighting for control of the Carribean: The South Alliance and the North Alliance. Each Alliance had 5 captains. They fought bravely against each other until only one Empire was left.

The full story is long lost.. No one knows how it really ends.

Battle Ships is similar in some aspects to DotA. However, in this game, you use ships rather than heros. There are 2 “lanes” which you may fight up/down, and the option to have a “trader” which is a person who basically trades resources throughout the game to collect money.

Ships can be upgraded, and different weapon types can be purchased. Ships automatically attack when within range of other ships.

An interesting game, with many similarites to DotA, although not nearly as popular.

EotA

EotANOTE: This map will ONLY WORK on older versions of Warcraft III ROC and TFT (must be older than v1.24). It will NOT WORK on the latest version. I am currently looking for a copy of EOTA that’s been modified to work with the latest version.

EotA: Eve of the Apocalypse: Twilight

EotA is similar to Dota in many ways, except on a larger scale. Like Dota, there are 2 teams with up to 5 players each. Creeps spawn at regular intervals. You’re able to buy items for your heroes. However, it goes far beyond that…

The game starts with a small introduction with a bit of a storyline behind it. The host then chooses one of 3 maps, and the game begins. You choose a hero, and then head out to start fighting your way towards the opposing base. The main goal of the game is to return an “artifact” to your main base. However, destroying the enemy base is another way to win.

There are many ways to spend your money in EotA. You can buy items for your hero, and upgrade them at your altar. You can buy extra waves of special creeps (a few different types to choose from). You can upgrade the attack/defense/etc of creeps as well. When you kill heroes, you receive crystals which can be used to upgrade your own hero. You’re also able to buy workers that can build and repair buildings. Teleporting to certain areas becomes rather important. Town halls (of which you’ll have a few) can be upgraded to provide extra health and mana regeneration when you’re in their vicinity. The possibilities are numerous, and there’s a vast amount of things that can be done in this game.

The many options allow for many different playstyles, and much more strategy than many other games.

Most people will prefer the simplicity of DotA. However, if you’re looking for a DotA-alternative, or something a little more complex, this game could be exactly what you’re looking for.

LOTR Castle Defence TFT 1.45

LOTR Castle DefenceA version of the popular Lord of the Rings Castle Defence, designed for the Frozen Throne expansion pack. 8 players are strongly recommended, but the game should still be playable with 4-7. In this defence map, there is a castle in the center, with 4 entrances where waves of creeps try to enter. Using a hero and units, you do your best to fend them off. You get gold each turn as well as gold for the creeps you kill. Gold can be used to buy more units, to buy items, or to upgrade your units or the towers provided.

A fun, well designed custom game. Units, creeps, and heros are named after Lord of the Rings characters.

Tree Tag Final v5.13

Tree TagTree Tag is a fairly popular game. You can choose to be an ent or an infernal. If you are an ent, you need to survive for 30 mins and run away from the infernals while trying to make a base without them knowing it. If the infernals kill your main “ent” your whole base will die and you will be summoned to the center where you can be saved by your teammates. If you are an infernal you must hunt down all of the ents before the time is up, making sure none of them gets too strong and builds an army to fight back. This game is recommended for 3v1, 6v2, or 9v3.

A good simple game. Not one that you would play over and over again, but a great game to play when you want to take a break from others.
